Description

The open cluster NGC7380 in Cepheus was discovered by Caroline Herschel in 1787.  As usual, William Herschel included his sister's discovery in his catalog.  The stars comprising NGC 7380 are intertwined with a bright diffuse nebula which bears the catalog designation Sh2-142.
